Day Off

Day Off

Flute generally wakes up feeling pretty energetic. A morning stitch face. But this morning, after looking out the window at the dispiriting rain, getting out of her pajamas just felt like more than she could reasonably accomplish. She decided to take the day off.

Once she made that decision, she felt her energy return. After all, there’s a lot to be done on a free day indoors in NYC.

There’s the NYT crossword to complete. In ink, of course. It’s only Wednesday so it’s not that hard.

There are back issues of the New Yorker that must be plowed through.

There are pressing, long-neglected beauty needs to be attended to.

There are old abandoned projects to revisit, and there is food to be ordered in.

Mostly, however, there are naps to be taken. Days off can be quite exhausting.

Flute feels rejuvenated, calm and relaxed. She does wish, however, that they would just hurry up and name that royal baby already.

Flute is made from a pair of pants donated by my sister-in-law Eve. Her pj bottoms are from an old pair of pajamas, and I made her Schuyler Sisters t-shirt by drawing on an old undershirt.

If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate
Just one day out of life
It would be, it would be so nice
