Tapestries?
A good friend and knowledgeable art person suggested that I call these tapestries — and, as they are meant to hang on the wall and are sort of woven, that seems close enough.
I learned this traditional rug-braiding technique in an online workshop during the pandemic. I was obsessed with it, and happily braided in a circle for a few days, until one night I actually had a dream in which I broke away from the circle and started braiding in loops. In the morning I tried it, and a new body of work was begun.
These are all made of repurposed textiles, with some hardware woven in.
